JOB SUMMARY:
The Credit Officer is responsible for growing quality portfolio to a targeted size within his/her area of operations. Credit Officers are also responsible for the profitability and performance of the portfolio and for meeting KBS Objectives. They are assigned to approve loans by issuing checks or forwarding applications to loan committee. He/she Completes loan contracts by explaining provisions to applicant, obtaining signatures and notarizations, and collecting fees. Prepares and submits timely and accurate loan files. He/she should be skilled at explaining loan terms and helping clients understand which loan features are best for them.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
CREDIT MANAGEMENT
- Receiving and making preliminary appraisals of all loan applications from intending borrowers and making necessary reports to the Loan Approval committee.
- Analyse applicants’ financial status, credit and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
- Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to supervisor and manager for approval.
- Review and update Credit files for clients.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans alongside the Credit Supervisor and Branch Manager.
- Documenting all approved loans before disbursement, keeping loan disbursement and repayment records, updating individual loan ledgers and preparing loan performance reports to be presented to the Credit Supervisor.
- Training Borrowers on loan Utilization and repayment procedures.
MARKETING
- Market the company products to individuals and firms by promoting services that may meet customer needs.
- Stay abreast of new types of loans in order to better meet customers needs.
OTHERS
- Handover Cash collected from the field to the Cashiers and ensure its banked on a daily basis.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
