Windle International Uganda is a registered NGO whose primary mission is to equip refugees and others affected by conflict in Africa to meet the challenges of development through providing access to education, training, and employment opportunities by advocacy and direct programme activity. Windle International Uganda has been a leading provider of access to university education, post-primary education,and vocational training for conflict-affected Africans since 1996.
It is part of the Windle Family of Trust operating in Eastern Africa with headquarters in the United Kingdom. It has sister offices in most of the East African countries: Kenya, Ethiopia and North and South Sudan. In Tanzania and Egypt it has only operations but has not yet formerly opened offices there. Windle through education teaches the students how to think than what to think,self-realization,that is to say, awareness of one’s abilities and goals.

In the years 2006 to 2010, Windle International Uganda’s largest programme was funded by the Dutch Government which offered support to secondary schools and vocational training colleges in Northern Uganda, Western Uganda and partly Central Uganda so that they may train and educate 3500 young Ugandans who were victims of instability. WIU also manages scholarship programmes for refugees in Uganda supporting students at secondary, vocational and undergraduate level.
