Awaka Uganda Ltd was incorporated in April 2004 and opened its doors to great acclaim and excitement in September 2004. The name Awaka was chosen as it means “the essence of home” in Luganda. The true calling of Awaka was to make simple quality furniture for the Ugandan market and then to take the brand into the East African market starting with Rwanda. The motto of Awaka is Quality, Style and Design. This has been paramount in the whole concept and the company still keeps to that motto today.
