Company description
Rweteera Safari Park area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to
explore. It’s located just outside Kibale National Park 18km along Kamwenge road,
Fort Portal Western part of Uganda. This place is an ideal base for tourists visiting
Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Semliki Game Reserve
and Semliki National Park, and Mountain Rwenzori National park.
The camp is within walking distance to Kibale National Park, with all its wonderful
African wildlife and spectacular scenery.
Rweteera Safari Park lies within the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within
half a day’s drive of the Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National
Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.
Rweteera Safari Park has been designed and
a feeling of comfort and relaxation in the chimp & crater lakes region.
Wining and Dining
Meals are served in the intimate dining hall overlooking lake nyabikere.
A unique experience and one not to be missed is a 'Lake Dinner' where one dines at
lakeside and Black & White colobus monkeys your fellow diners!
Meals are prepared with fresh organic fruits and vegetables as well as fish, supplied
by local farmers and fishermen. With friendly staff and home from home atmosphere
visitors will find the service and accommodation comfortable and affordable.
Cultural Tour
Take a guided walk through our local villages. Meet and greet villagers and learn
about our unique Ugandan culture and traditions.
Nature walks
After days spent in a car for safaris and transfers, it's great to get out of the car and
finally be allowed to walk around in the crater lakes. There are no predators in the
crater lakes (except for the hippo - which doesn't attack humans). Enjoy a guided
walk through Lake Nyabikere and swamp wetland area, learning about the monkeys,
birds and trees found in our Nature Reserve.
Water fall
Experience a glorious trek through beautiful countryside, past three volcanic crater
lakes and on to the stunning Mahoma Waterfall.
Crater Lake Hikes
Explore four crater lakes during this enjoyable circular walk. Learn about Crater Lake
formation whilst viewing birds, trees and beautiful scenery.
Hikes of varying lengths among the crater lakes can be organised. Depending on
your interest and fitness level, the experience can include waterfalls, crater rims,
coffee terraces and even banana gin brewing in oil drums. There are also plenty to
see for those fascinated by birds, butterflies, and primates.
Fishing
The lake offers opportunities for boating and fishing, whilst the surrounding trails are
excellent for mountain-biking and hiking.
Camping
Our campsite is surrounded by trees often frequented by red colobus, black and
white colobus and the mischievous vervet monkeys. Camping facilities include
shared bathroom facilities with flushing toilets. Camping chairs are available and a
camp fire may be lit at night.
In addition to accommodation in safari permanent tents, the Safari Park offers quality
camping for over landers and individuals. The campsite offers modern shower
facilities, as well as barbeque and dining facilities with spectacular views over the
Crater Lake.
A variety of delicious African dishes are served based on fresh raw materials from
the nearby market. Guests can also prepare their own meal on the barbeque if they
so wish. A chef is available for continental dishes.
Favorite Activities at Rweteera Safari Park
Lakeside Dinners
Have a romantic evening out - we'll take tables, chairs, plates, candles, food, wine
and yourself out to one of our favourite spots on the lakeside. With a view over the
lake and onto the boundary of kibale national park, you'll enjoy your dinner and quite
an impressive scenery while the sun is setting.
Excursions to the Fishing Village Kyantambara
Kyantambara is a scenic little fishing village on the lakeshore. Our guide explains the
traditional lifestyle of the fisherman here and probably will introduce you to the village
elders. Usually, you have little kids on all your free fingers - they're not there for
begging, they mostly like holding hands and jumping around with Muzungu.
You can walk to the village or we can drive you.
Relaxing and reading at the side of the lake
With a breeze from the lake and the view across the water to kibale national park.
Take a break from your safaris, enjoy a dip in the crater lake, have somebody bring
you a juice or a beer, and just watch the time pass by.

Needs a lot of improvement
Lovely view and location but badly cooked food which took over an hour to arrive. Staff were welcoming and nice but we got completely different prices for food and accommodation from 4 different staff. The bedsheets did not smell washed and the towel we found in the room was wet. With all the cheap solar power options currently available in Uganda I was disappointed to have no light at all.
